CHICAGO – DePaul makes its 15th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament when the Blue Demons face first-round opponent Northern Iowa on Friday in Starkville, Miss.

DePaul (26-7) is a No. 7 seed in the Oklahoma City Region as announced on Monday night’s NCAA Selection Show televised by ESPN. Mississippi State is the No. 2 seed and will open up against No. 15 Troy with the winners advancing to Sunday’s second round. First and second-round games will be played in Starkville, Miss.

Northern Iowa comes in with a 24-8 record and finished second in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 15-3 conference record.

The Blue Demons have a 3-0 record against Northern Iowa with their last meeting in the WNIT first round on March 16, 2001. The Blue Demons recorded a 76-73 win overtime at McGrath-Phillips Arena in that matchup.

DePaul has won four consecutive BIG EAST Conference regular-season titles and has won 10 of its last 12 games. Doug Bruno’s program was 9-4 in road games this season and 4-1 at a neutral site.

The Blue Demons are one of only six teams in the country to appear in the last 15 NCAA Tournaments, joined in this elite category by Connecticut, Notre Dame, Stanford, Tennessee and Oklahoma.

Last season, No. 6 seed DePaul defeated No. 11 James Madison 97-67 in the NCAA first round and edged No. 3 Louisville 73-72 on its home court in advancing to the program’s fourth appearance in the Sweet 16. The Blue Demons lost 83-71 to No. 2 seed Oregon State in the Dallas Regional Semifinal.
