Blue Demons' NCAA Sendoff is Wednesday

CHICAGO – DePaul is looking to send off its women’s basketball team in style at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday from McGrath-Phillips Arena inside the Sullivan Athletic Center.

No. 23 DePaul (26-7) opens NCAA tournament play on Friday against Oklahoma (16-14) at 11:30 a.m. in College Station, Texas. Host No. 14/14 Texas A&M (24-9) faces Drake (26-7) 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. Texas A&M is a No. 4 seed in the tournament while DePaul is a No. 5, Oklahoma No. 12 and Drake No. 13.

This is the Blue Demons’ highest seed since 2011 when they were a No. 3.

The university community is invited to gather with the Screamin’ Demons Band, spirit squad and local media at McGrath-Phillips Arena to wish the team success in its 16th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance.

Fans wishing to attend the game can purchase tickets in the DePaul section at Reed Arena by calling the DePaul ticket office at (773)-325-SLAM (7526).

The Blue Demons’ first-round game is scheduled to be telecast on ESPN2. Live streaming on Watch ESPN is also available.

On game day, DePaul, students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the Lincoln Park Campus Game Watch at 11:30 a.m. Friday at McGrath-Phillips Arena. Admission is free and complimentary pizza, popcorn and soft drinks will be served. Raffle drawings for students, faculty and staff will take place throughout the game featuring T-shirts, hats and the highly coveted DIBS bobble head.
