CHICAGO - DePaul is set for a festive send-off at 9:30 a.m. Thursday just before the women's basketball team departs for Durham, N.C. in preparation for its NCAA tournament game against Oklahoma at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The game will be televised on ESPN2.

Members of the DePaul spirit squads and the Screamin' Demons Band will add to the jubilant atmosphere at the Sullivan Athletic Center's Hall of Fame Foyer.

The Blue Demons are a No. 7 seed and are making their 12th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance and 19th overall. They have won seven games in a row and 16 of the last 17.

DePaul (27-6) has had one of the most successful seasons in recent history and set program records for points scored (2,763), 3-pointers (285) and assists (654) while the 27 wins ties for second-most in school history. The Blue Demons also won their first BIG EAST Conference regular-season and tournament titles.

Coach Doug Bruno's team is one of just nine programs to appear in each of the last 12 NCAA tournaments. DePaul is joined in this elite company by Connecticut, Duke, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Stanford, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

Bruno's program enters the tournament having already claimed one national title. On Tuesday, Inside Higher Ed announced that DePaul had won the academic national championship of the 64-team NCAA tournament field based on NCAA academic progress reports and graduation rate success.

Come join DePaul Athletics and Blue Demon fans for a rousing send-off.
