DePaul Women's Basketball Adds Maureen Mulchrone for Next Season
CHICAGO DePaul head coach Doug Bruno announced today that Maureen Mulchrone has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Blue Demons starting next season. Mulchrone, a 6-0 forward/guard, led Marist High School to the Illinois state semifinals as a senior. She joins the four-player recruiting class that signed National Letters of Intent in the early signing period in November.
“Maureen Mulchrone is the signature Chicago high school winner.’ This was never more evident than when Maureen led her Marist team downstate to a final four finish, after coming back from total ACL knee reconstruction in just three months," said Bruno. “She defies position and just does whatever it takes to win and will play any role for her team that is needed for her team to succeed. Maureen is the kind of player that has been so important and instrumental to our success here at DePaul. Maureen Mulchrone’s relentless competitive spirit and desire to be a great teammate is reminiscent of recent DePaul special teammates and competitors Khara Smith, Jenni Dant, Sarah Kustok, and Erin Carney.”
Mulchrone concluded her high school career averaging 14.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game last season at Marist. She earned second team All-State honors from the Chicago Sun-Times. The McDonald's All-American nominee came back as a senior after a knee injury last summer. She also earned All-State recognition from the Illinois Basketball Service, Associated Press and Champaign News-Gazette.
She joins fall signees Keisha Hampton (Philadelphia, Pa.), Danielle Havel (Carmel, Ind.), Deanna Ortiz (Chicago, Ill.) and Courtney Webb (Benton Harbor, Mich.) next season in Lincoln Park. Additionally, junior transfer Rachel Pierson (St. Louis, Mo.) will be eligible after sitting out the 2007-08 campaign under NCAA guidelines.
