Blue Demons Sign Jarietta Benton to a National Letter of Intent
CHICAGO - DePaul women's basketball coach Doug Bruno announced today that Jarietta Benton has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at DePaul University next season. Benton is the fifth signee that the Blue Demons will welcome to Linclon Park next season.
The Nimitz High School standout led the Houston area as a senior in scoring at 19.0 points per game, rebounding with 9.7 boards per contest and was a 44 percent three-point shooter. The two-time team MVP also earned All-District honors three times and All-Region honors three times from the Texas Sports Writers Association.
Throughout her four-year career, Benton totaled 1,447 points, 887 rebounds, 327 steals and 205 blocked shots. She also shot .460 from the field and .440 from three-point range. Just as successful in the classroom, she is ranked in the top 12 percent of her class and will graduate from Nimitz with honors. As a senior, she was named Academic All-State and an All-American Scholar. She also picked Academic All-District honors as a junior and senior.
