Women's Basketball Host Benefit For Leukemia Research Foundation
May 24, 2001
The DePaul University women's basketball program and "Somebody's Hero", the Kathy Meyers Grabemann Chapter of the Leukemia Research Foundation, have joined together for a benefit party on Sunday, June 3, at Hamilton's (6342 N. Broadway) from 3:00-6:00 p.m. A $50 donation covers all food and drink and proceeds will benefit "Somebody's Hero" and the DePaul women's basketball program.
The Leukemia Research Foundation was established to conquer leukemia, lymphoma and myelodysplastic syndromes by funding research into their causes and cures, and to enrich the quality of life of those touched by these diseases.
"Somebody's Hero" was established in memory of Kathy Meyers Grabemann, a dear friend to DePaul Women's Basketball. Kathy was a former two sport student-athlete who was a 33-year old successful attorney, wife and mother when leukemia claimed her life in September of 1996. It was Kathy's wish to continue the fight against leukemia.
