CHICAGO - Former DePaul All-American and Joliet, Ill., native Allie Quigley has returned to Chicago and made the WNBA's Chicago Sky roster. Quigley, who made her WNBA debut five years ago, has traveled the world before making the roster in her hometown.
The former Blue Demon earned a spot on Sky roster that was announced on May 24 and played in the Sky's 102-80 season-opening win over the Phoenix Mercury on May 27.
Including this season, Quigley has appeared in 35 WNBA games - making the roster in Phoenix (2008-09), Indiana (2010), San Antonio (2011) and Seattle (2011). Against the Mercury last week, Quigley was 2-of-2 from the free throw line and added an assist in three minutes of action. In her WNBA career, Quigley is averaging 5.5 minutes and 1.9 points per game.
Quigley is also enjoying a successful career in the European leagues and recently signed with the Polish club Wisla Can-Pack for the 2013 season. Quigley makes her move to the Polish league after a strong campaign in Slovak Republic with Good Angels Kosice. In her 19 games, Quigley averaged 14.7 points (45% FG) and 3.7 rebounds per game and helped Kosice finish fourth in EuroLeague Women last season.
Holding dual citizenship in the United States and in Hungary, Quigley played for the Hungarian National Team which competed in the European Championship last season.
Quigley finished her career at DePaul in 2008 and graduated as one of only four players to reach the 2,000-point plateau. Quigley helped the Blue Demons to four NCAA tournaments which included the program's first Sweet 16 in 2006. A two-time Associated Press honorable mention All-American, Quigley was twice named the I-AAA Scholar Athlete of the Year and was a third-team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American selection.
Fans can catch the former Blue Demon in action at the Allstate Arena on Friday, May 31 when the Sky take on Connecticut at 7:30 p.m. in Rosemont.
