NICE, France -- The DePaul women’s basketball team closed out its France trip with an 86-71 victory over Cavigal Nice on Monday. The Blue Demons went 4-0 during their 10-day foreign tour while they averaged 83 points per contest.
DePaul led by as many as 16 in the first half and went to the locker room with a 47-36 advantage, but with three Blue Demons in foul trouble. DePaul continued to keep Cavigal Nice at a distance in the second half while every available Blue Demon contributed to today’s win.
Anna Martin led all scorers with 25 points, while the sophomore guard has averaged 24.5 points in her last two games of the trip. Taylor Pikes added 15 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double, while Katherine Harry rounded out the double-digit scorers with 13 points. Harry also grabbed six boards and averaged 11 rebounds in her last three contests.
In a trip that looked to build team chemistry both on and off the court, the Blue Demons saw contributions from every rostered player. Maureen Mulchrone, Jasmine Penny, Keisha Hampton, Sam Quigley, Martin, Pikes and Harry all registered double-digits in at least one game, while Hampton reached double-digits in three of DePaul’s four games.
Mulchrone, Pikes and Harry led DePaul on the glass while in France. Mulchrone grabbed a career-best 12 against Reims, while Harry led the Blue Demons’ efforts against Le Havre (17) and Perpignan (10).
DePaul returns to the United States on Aug. 24 before classes begin on Sept. 8.
The Blue Demons tip their 2010 campaign at home on November 12, when they host Valparaiso in the opening round of the WNIT.
