CHICAGO – The No. 25 DePaul women’s basketball team opens its 2012-13 exhibition schedule against Saint Xavier at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at McGrath-Phillips Arena.  Tuesday’s game is the first of two exhibition games the Blue Demons play prior to the regular season opener on Nov. 9 against Nicholls State.

Gametracker will be provided for Tuesday’s exhibition while in-game scoring updates and notes can be followed on www.twitter.com/DePaulWBBSID.

Saint Xavier is no stranger to Lincoln Park with the Blue Demons and Cougars having met, last season and also during exhibition contests in 2008 and 2009.  In 2011, the Blue Demons topped the Cougars 112-47 behind double-digit scoring performances from six DePaul players -- Brittany Hrynko (19), Anna Martin (16), Chanise Jenkins (15), Kelsey Reynolds (15), Megan Rogowski (14) and Jasmine Penny (12).

Returning six of its “Magnificent Seven” from a year ago, the Blue Demons look to make their 11th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance at the end of 2012-13 season.  Anchored by their All-American, Martin and the BIG EAST Conference’s top rebounder from a season ago, Katherine Harry, the Blue Demons look to make some noise again this season.

Known for head coach Doug Bruno’s up-tempo offense, DePaul returns 84% of its scoring including the BIG EAST’s leading scorer in Martin, who averaged 19.1 points per game.  Last season, the Blue Demons ranked 23rd in the country in scoring with 72.0 points per game.

With Harry and Penny patrolling the paint, DePaul returns 87% of its rebounding. Harry averaged 9.5 boards per game last season while the senior broke a McGrath-Phillips Arena record with 20 rebounds against Louisville on Jan. 31, 2012.

Coach Bruno enters his 27th year at the helm of the program and returns to the court after serving as an assistant coach for the USA National Team, who captured Olympic Gold in London over the summer.

The Blue Demons close out the exhibition portion of their schedule against Illinois Wesleyan at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3.  The game is part of a men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader with the men taking on Lewis at 7:30 p.m.

Women's basketball season tickets are on sale and start at just $99 for all women's home games.  For more information on season tickets, singles game tickets and a variety of mini plans call (773) 325-SLAM.
