CHICAGO – After a week off for final exams the DePaul women’s basketball team returns to the court at 7 p.m. on Saturday to host Howard at McGrath-Phillips Arena.   The game between the Blue Demons and Bison can be heard live on DePaul’s BlueTube with Cami Padilla and Patricia Babcock-McGraw calling the action courtside.  Gametracker is also available while in-game scoring updates and notes can be followed at www.twitter.com/DePaulWBBSID.

The Blue Demons (1-1) return the court after dropping a 92-80 game to Dayton in the Championship game of the Maggie Dixon Classic.  In the first weekend of action, which also saw DePaul grab an 87-59 win over Nicholls State, the Blue Demons were paced by Brittany Hrynko 16.0 points per game while three others – Katherine Harry (14.5), Jasmine Penny (14.0) and Anna Martin (13.5) -- also averaged double figures.

On the defensive end, Harry patrolled the glass and averaged 11.0 boards per outing with Hrynko, Chanise Jenkins, Megan Podkowa and Brandi Harvey-Carr also averaging five or more rebounds per game.

In the first two games, the Blue Demons have averaged an assist on nearly 72 percent of their field goals with Martin dishing out eight assists per game.  Named to the early season Naismith Watch List earlier this week, Martin recorded a career-best nine assist against Dayton while also hitting 3-of-6 from behind the arc.

Howard (0-2) is playing its third road game of the year and opened its season with losses at Saint Francis (69-61) and at No. 8 Penn State (72-61).  The Bison are paced by Saadia Doyle’s 28.5 points while she also leads the team in rebounding (6.5), minutes (35.5) and free throws (26-for-36).

Saturday’s meeting is the first overall series meeting between the two teams, while DePaul is 1-1 all-time against schools from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

Following, DePaul’s game against Howard, the Blue Demons host Yale at 7 p.m. on Monday before heading to the Paradise Jam, Nov. 22-24 in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
