CHICAGO – With just under 48 hours of separation between the DePaul women’s basketball team’s 68-51 victory over Howard, the Blue Demons return to the court at 7 p.m. on Monday to host Yale. Monday’s game will be carried live on DePaul’s BlueTube with Dave Bernhard and Patricia Babcock-McGraw calling the action courtside. DePaul (2-1) has used a balanced attack in its first three games as four players – Brittany Hrynko (16.7), Jasmine Penny (14.3), Anna Martin (13.0) and Katherine Harry (12.7) -- are all averaging double-figures. Hrynko is coming off an 18-point performance against the Bison and has led the Blue Demons in scoring twice this season.
With four players averaging double-digits, the Blue Demons are distributing the ball extremely well with Hrynko, Martin and Chanise Jenkins each dishing out at least 5.0 assists per game. Averaging an assist on 76 percent of its baskets, Martin leads the trio with 7.3 assists while the group has accounted for nearly 80 percent of DePaul’s 67 assists.
Yale (1-2) recorded its first win of 2012-13 season at Houston on Nov. 17. The Bulldogs edged the Cougars 84-82 behind 18 points, 11 rebounds and four assists from Zenab Keita. Keita is averaging 12.7 points per outing while she also leads the Bulldogs in rebounding (7.7) and blocks (2.0).
Monday’s game marks the second all-time series meeting between the Blue Demons and Bulldogs.
DePaul won the series’ only other meeting 86-60 on Nov. 17, 2006 in the opening round of the DePaul Invitational. Yale is the first of two Ivy League schools that DePaul will face this season -- Princeton comes to town for a Dec. 21 clash.
DePaul is in a stretch of five games in eight days and heads to the St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands on Tuesday morning. The Blue Demons are in the Reef Division at the Paradise Jam and will square off against Florida Gulf Coast (Nov. 22) Hampton (Nov. 23) and South Carolina (Nov. 24).
