DePaul Captures Moran Realty Classic Championship
CHICAGO – The DePaul women’s basketball team knocked off USC, 99-77, to win the Moran Realty Classic on Saturday night at the DePaul Athletic Center. Jenni Dant was named tourney MVP with a career-high 29 points in the championship game. She was joined by Allie Quigley and Khara Smith on the All-Tournament team.
The Blue Demons held just a six-point lead at halftime, but opened up a 22-point advantage at 67-45 on a Dant lay-up with just over 12 minutes left in the game. The Women of Troy came back with a 17-7 to get within 12 points at the seven-minute mark. However, DePaul (2-0) moved back ahead by 19 at 89-70 on a three-pointer by Quigley and never looked back.
In her second collegiate game, Quigley finished with 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting. She hit four three’s to lead the Blue Demons and added three steals and a pair of assists. Dant went 10-for-10 from the free throw line to go with her career-high 29 points.
Khara Smith added 18 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high seven assists. Jenna Rubino chipped in 13 points with seven rebounds as the Blue Demons had four players in double-figures.
USC (1-1) was led by Jamie Hagiya with 14 points, six steals, four rebounds and four assists. Rachel Woodward added 13 points as USC finished the game with five players in double-figures.
The three Blue Demons were joined on the All-Tournament team by Hagiya, Rebecca Remington of Murray State and Katie Nelson of Masschusetts.
