Millender Selected to BIG EAST Honor Roll

CHICAGO – Ashton Millender has had quite the week.

It began with her late heroics last Monday helping No. 20 DePaul knock off No. 21/21 Oklahoma 111-108 in overtime at McGrath-Phillips Arena.

Then came Friday night when the junior guard had a career game with personal bests in points (27), field goals (10) and three-pointers (7) in a 110-71 victory over Delaware State.

Just 24 hours later, Millender was named MVP of the Maggie Dixon Classic after scoring 18 points to help spark DePaul (3-1) to an 86-78 win over Saint Louis.

On Monday, Millender was named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll and became the first Blue Demon honoree of the new season.

For the week, Millender averaged 22 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists while converting 55 percent of her shots. In the significant win over Oklahoma, Millender was 10-of-12 from the floor including 7-of-9 from long distance.

On the season, Millender is averaging 20 points per game and is shooting .429 from distance with a team-high 18 three-pointers.

In the Associated Press national rankings released on Monday, the Blue Demons were receiving votes. They are ranked No. 20 in the USA Today Coaches poll.

Coach Doug Bruno’s team departs for Las Vegas on Tuesday and will face Florida Gulf Coast Thursday in its Play4Kay Showcase opener at 2:30 p.m. (CT). The eight-team tournament featuring DePaul, No. 9/8 Ohio State and No. 14/9 Stanford is at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
