CHICAGO - DePaul senior forward Jasmine Penny was named to the BIG EAST Conference women's basketball Weekly Honor Roll it was announced on Monday by the league office. Penny's second consecutive honor roll accolade comes after the Logansport, Indiana native tallied her first career double-double last week.
Penny's first career double-double came on a 21-point, 10-rebound performance in DePaul's 80-67 win over Illinois State on Nov. 18. Penny connected on 8-of-12 (.667) from the floor on her way to her third straight double-digit scoring effort this season.
For the year, Penny is shooting .704 (19-for-27) from the floor which leads the BIG EAST. Her 17.3 points per game ranks sixth in the league, while the senior`s 6.7 rebounds ranks 11th.
Providence's tori Rule was named the conference's Player of the Week and Georgetown's Natlie Butler earned Freshman of the Week honors. Katie Young (Marquette), Allyyah Handford (St. John's), Tabatha Richardon-Smith (Seton Hall) and Devon Kane (Villanova) all joined Penny on the league's honor roll.
No. 25 DePaul returns to the hardwood at Notre Dame on Tuesday, Nov. 26. The Blue Demons and Irish tip at 7 p.m. (CT) and the game can be heard live on DePaul's BlueTube with Dave Bernhard and Patricia Babcock McGraw calling the action courtside.
