DePaul Duels with No. 10/6 Florida State on Sunday

LAS VEGAS - DePaul head women's basketball coach Doug Bruno will coach his 700th game when the Blue Demons face No. 10/6 Florida State in the semifinals of the Duel In the Desert tournament on Sunday at 5 p.m. at UNLV's Cox Pavilion. The game can be seen live on FCS broadband pay-per-view website, with Brenda VanLengen calling the action.

The Blue Demons reached the semifinals of the tournament with a 46-45 victory over Arkansas on Saturday, while Florida State topped UTSA 65-50 in its opening round game.

Sunday's game between the Blue Demons and Seminoles marks the third meeting between the two teams.  DePaul owns a 2-0 series advantage, while it won the most recent game in the series in 2007, 79-68.  The Blue Demons are 5-9 against schools from the ACC.

The winner advances to the championship game against either UNLV or Hawaii on Monday at 7:30 p.m.,  while the two losing teams will play for third at 5 p.m. 

Noting the Blue Demons: DePaul is 641-376 (.631) all-time... the 2009-10 campaign is the 36th season of women's basketball at DePaul University... DePaul has made at least 200 3-pointers in a season the last 10 seasons... since the start of the 2003-04 season (202 games), the Blue Demons have held 64.4 percent of their opponents to less than 70 points (130-of-202)... in that span, DePaul is 112-18 (.862) when holding opponents to less than 70 points... Scouting the Seminoles: Florida State enters Sunday's game with an unblemished 10-0 record... average margin of victory 19.7 points per game... led by Jacinta Monroe's 13.4 ppg and 27 total blocks this season... Courtney Ward follows with 10.0 ppg and has added a team-best 51 assists and 13 3-pointers... shooting .462 on the season and has recorded a FG% over .400 in nine of its 10 games this season... Sue Semrau is in her 13th season at FSU with a 215-160 record. 

The DePaul/FSU Series: DePaul and Florida State will meet for the third time on Sunday... DePaul holds a 2-0 series advantage with both games taking place in Chicago... the Blue Demons defeated then-No. 18/19, 79-68... two of DePaul's active players - Taylor Pikes and Felicia Chester played in the win... the pair combined for six points, three steals and three rebounds.

Against the Atlantic Coast Conference: DePaul is 5-9 all-time against the ACC with two of those wins coming against FSU.

It could happen: The game is No. 1018 in DePaul women's basketball history... head coach Doug Bruno will coach in his 700 career game at DePaul... Sam Quigley needs seven points to reach the 600 career points... Keisha Hampton needs 14 and Felicia Chester needs two points to reach 500 career mark... Quigley could start her 48th consecutive game.

Arkansas Recap:  DePaul defeated Arkansas 46-45 behind Maureen Mulchrone's 11 points... DePaul took a 24-22 lead to the locker room at the half... Arkansas opened the second half on a 12-4 run and jumped out to a 34-28 advantage with 12:40 left in the game... Mulchrone gave the Blue Demons its final 37-36 lead with 8:43 left to play.... Blue Demons extended their lead to seven points as Hampton hit the front end of a one-and-one with 23 seconds on the clock... Arkansas' Lyndsay Harris, hit two 3-pointers in the final 16 second of play to give the Razorbacks their final points... DePaul was held without a 3-pointer for the second time this season... Blue Demons were 0-for-11 from behind the arc for the game... Maureen Mulchrone had a career-high 11 points and four rebounds... DePaul outrebounded Arkansas 49-33...  Keisha Hampton led DePaul with five assists and two blocks... Sam Quigley eclipsed the 200 rebound mark with four rebounds... Quigley has 202 career boards... DePaul is now 2-1 all-time against Arkansas and 14-43 against schools from the SEC.

Looking Ahead:  DePaul closes out its six game-road trip at Illinois State on Dec. 28 and heads to Rutgers for its BIG EAST Conference opener in Jan. 2.  The Blue Demons return to McGrath Arena on Jan. 5 when they host National Runner-Up Louisville on Jan. 5.
