Blue Demons Play UNLV for the Duel in the Desert Championship
LAS VEGAS - The DePaul women's basketball team will play for the Championship of the Duel in the Desert tournament on Monday. The Blue Demons tangle with tournament host UNLV at 7:30 p.m. (PST) at Cox Pavilion. The game can be seen live on www.B2TV.com with Brenda VanLengen calling the action from courtside.
DePaul reached the championship game by defeating No. 10/6 Florida State on Sunday, 75-60. Sam Quigley led four Blue Demons in double-figures, while DePaul held FSU to a season-low 33 percent from field.
The Blue Demons and UNLV meet for the third time while the series is tied at one apiece with each team winning on its home court. The two teams last met in 2006 at Cox Pavilion with the Rebels taking the contest 89-71.
DePaul's Sam Quigley and Felicia Chester both played in the 2006 game. Quigley recorded 11 points while Chester grabbed five rebounds.
This season, Quigley leads the Blue Demons with 61 assists and a .833 free throw percentage while Chester leads the team with 7.0 rebounds per game.
The Blue Demons have won their last two games, while they are 4-1 in their last five games.
Following the Duel in the Desert and the Holiday break, the Blue Demons play at Illinois State on Dec. 28 and open BIG EAST Conference play at Rutgers on Jan. 2.
