Blue Demons Drop Road Contest to Purdue
Aug. 31, 2017

Box Score

The DePaul women’s soccer team’s two-match winning streak was snapped on Thursday evening as the Blue Demons were shutout by the Purdue Boilermakers in a 2-0 result.

While DePaul (2-3) fired off the match’s first shot in the sixth minute, Purdue (3-1) would take an early 1-0 lead eight minutes into the contest when Maddy Williams received a long lead pass from Hannah Mussallem from the right side of the pitch and placed a left-to-right shot from the top of the 18 into the lower right-hand corner of the net.

Purdue pushed its lead to 2-0 in the 52nd minute as Andrea Petrina intercepted a Blue Demon clearance attempt and pushed the shot just inside the left post.

The Blue Demons will now head south as DePaul will square off with No. 12 Texas A&M on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in College Station.  The eastern Texas showdown is the first-ever meeting between the Blue Demons and Aggies.

Sunday's match ends DePaul's six-match season-opening road trip as the Blue Demons return to Chicago for their home opener at Wish Field on Sept. 8 against Pepperdine at 3 p.m.

Season tickets are still available for $30 and can be purchased by contacting the DePaul Ticket Office at 773-325-7526.
