CHICAGO - The DePaul women's soccer team made its home debut on Friday afternoon in heroic fashion as the Blue Demons edged Pepperdine, which is receiving votes nationally, 1-0 at Wish Field.

Freshman Morgan Turner netted the lone goal of the match, recording her first collegiate career score.  Two minutes before halftime, Turner intercepted a defensive deflection and fired a quick shot past the Pepperdine keeper for the 1-0 lead.

DePaul's defense was the highlight of the match as the Blue Demons' backline tallied its third shutout of the season.

"Pepperdine is a solid program that I believe will make the NCAA tournament, and our team battled hard and stood its ground today," said head coach Erin Chastain.  "I'm very proud of our defensive effort this afternoon and was impressed with their mindset of `We aren't going to let them score' that they displayed.  Lauren [Frasca] made some crucial stops for us late as well.  Overall, I'm proud of the adversity our team has overcome this week and look forward to seeing where we progress from here."

DePaul will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 10 as the Blue Demons welcome William & Mary to Wish Field for a 1 p.m. first touch.
