MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – A hat trick from Golden Gophers sophomore Taylor Uhl sent the DePaul women’s soccer team to a 3-0 shutout loss on Sunday afternoon in the Blue Demons’ final game of the Minnesota Gold Classic.

DePaul (4-3-1) put up a fight against Minnesota, a team that received votes in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire Top 25 Poll, but it was not enough to combat the efforts of Uhl.

In the 17th minute, Uhl, the Gophers’ leading scorer, got Minnesota on the board thanks to assists from Allie Phillips—who also assisted on Uhl’s third goal—and Katie Thyken.

Entering the half, the Gophers outshot the Blue Demons 13-0 as their backline held strong against the DePaul attack. In that span, the Blue Demons’ sophomore goalkeeper Megan Pyrz made four saves in five chances.

In the second period of play, DePaul upped its pressure and registered four shots against Minnesota, but Gophers keeper Cat Parkhill turned away each of the three shots on goal.

Just under 10 minutes into second half action, Uhl got on the board once again. This time, the sophomore capitalized off a rebound to make it 2-0.

Then, in the 75th minute, Uhl completed the hat trick, notching her third goal to seal the win for Minnesota.

Natasa Radosavljevic led the Blue Demons with two shots on goal while MaryKate Cicinelli added one. For their defensive efforts, junior Kylie Nordness and senior Kelly Blumberg were named to the Minnesota Gold Classic All-Tournament Team.

"Kylie and Kelly both played in a couple different spots this weekend due to injury and were very good," DePaul head coach Erin Chastain said after the tournament. "I am excited to see what the conference season brings for both of them."

DePaul gets its chance to rebound next weekend as it heads to Cincinnati on Friday for a 4 p.m. matchup before returning home to Wish Field for a 1 p.m. matchup on Sunday against Louisville. Next weekend's matches mark the beginning of BIG EAST Conference play.
