Six Women's Soccer Players Earn NSCAA Academic Recognition

NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-North/Central Region

CHICAGO – Headlined by first teamer Erin Walter, the DePaul women’s soccer team placed six student-athletes on the NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-North/Central Region teams.  Erin Davren earned third team honors while Lindsey Deason, Jennifer Heil, Kelly Lord and Amy Witt picked up honorable mention recognition.

Walter, who was also named a third team ESPN Academic All-American, was one of 11 players named to the North/Central Region first team.  The junior midfielder finished the 2004 season with a school-record 10 assists and earned third team All-Conference USA honors.

Davren, Deason, Heil and Lord finished their DePaul careers in 2004.  Deason finished her four-year career rewriting the goalkeeping records for DePaul.  Davren and Heil led the Blue Demon defense to record goals against averages in each of the last two seasons.  Along with Lord, the quartet built a foundation for the program that included the 2003 C-USA Tournament title and NCAA Tournament appearance.

Davren was named to the region’s third team while Deason, Heil, Lord and Witt were honorable mention honorees.  Witt, a junior, returns next season with Walter as the Blue Demons move into the BIG EAST Conference.  The 2004 campaign was the final season for DePaul in Conference USA.
