Julianne Sitch Signs Professional Contract with B?linge in Sweden

CHICAGO – After rewriting the DePaul record books and becoming the program’s first All-American, Julianne Sitch recently signed to play for Blinge in the Swedish professional league Damallsvenskan.

Sitch finished her DePaul career as the program’s all-time leader in points, goals and assists.  As DePaul’s only All-American, she totaled 90 points on 32 goals and 26 assists.  She was a four-time NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region honoree and picked up All-Conference USA honors over her first three seasons and All-BIG EAST recognition as a senior.

She is the first foreign player to sign with Blinge as the club plays in the Damallsvenskan, recognized as the highest league in Sweden and one of the top women’s soccer leagues in the world.

“She can run all day and our plan is to make her our playmaker as a central midfielder,” said head coach Magnus Wikman of Blinge.  “Julianne has been one of my priorities for a long time and she will become a very important player for us.”

On the international level, Sitch competed with the U.S. U-21 National Team and played in six matches, including the 2004 Nordic Cup.  She will be one of three American players on Blinge.
