CHICAGO – DePaul women’s soccer coach John Wilson announced the 2006 schedule for the program’s second season of BIG EAST Conference play.  Following an exhibition match against Central Michigan at the IPFW Soccer Showcase, the Blue Demons open the regular-season on Aug. 25 against Northwestern at Wish Field.  DePaul is set to play 10 matches this season at Wish Field, including BIG EAST clashes with Cincinnati, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Seton Hall and West Virginia.

“We anticipate a very exciting season for DePaul women's soccer as we enter our second year in the BIG EAST Conference," said Wilson.  "We are bringing some big names to campus for home games including the 2005 National Champion Notre Dame.  A mix of local and regional match-ups along with high profile nationally-recognized teams will add great variety and excitement to home games.  I hope everyone will come out and support the Blue Demons in our quest for the playoffs.”

DePaul starts the 2006 campaign with a pair of homes matches against Northwestern on Aug. 25 and Eastern Washington on Aug. 27.  Labor Day weekend has the Blue Demons on the road for contests with Eastern Illinois and Drake.  DePaul takes on Eastern Illinois on Sept. 1 before heading west for a Sunday afternoon tilt at Drake.

Five of the seven remaining September matches have the Blue Demons playing at the friendly confines of Wish Field.  They take on Southeast Missouri State on Sept. 8 before a road match at Northern Illinois on Sept. 10.  BIG EAST play opens with Notre Dame on Sept.15 before hosting Loyola-Chicago two days later.  The Blue Demons travel to Louisville for a Friday night match on Sept. 22 and close the month with home games against Cincinnati on Sept. 24 and Pittsburgh on Sept. 29.

October opens with three consecutive home matches before four straight road games conclude the regular-season slate.  West Virginia follows Pittsburgh with a Sunday afternoon match in Lincoln Park before the New Jersey contingent of the BIG EAST heads to Chicago.  DePaul hosts Rutgers on Oct. 6 and Seton Hall on Oct. 8 in the final home match of the regular-season.

The four-match road trip to finish the regular-season takes DePaul eastward.  The Blue Demons play at Providence on Oct. 13 before an Oct. 15 match at Connecticut.  The final weekend schedules road matches at Georgetown and Villanova.  The Hoyas and Blue Demons tangle in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 20 followed by a trip to Philadelphia to play Villanova on Oct. 22.

The 2006 BIG EAST Championship begins with first round matches on Oct. 25 and concludes with the semifinals on Nov. 3 and championship on Nov. 5 in Storrs, Conn.
