Women's Soccer Adds Transfer for 2012 Season
July 10, 2012
CHICAGO--Ahead of the DePaul women's soccer team's 2012 campaign, head coach Erin Chastain has announced that forward Sara Brathwaite will transfer to DePaul and begin play this fall for the Blue Demons.
A forward from Hayward, Calif., Brathwaite comes to DePaul from Santa Clara University. The Broncos, who compete in the West Coast Conference, ranked as high as No. 7 in the NSCAA Women's Soccer Poll last season, Braithwaite's first on the field. In 2011, Brathwaite made two starts and appeared in 10 matches for the Broncos.
As a youth player, Brathwaite competed in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) for the Pleasanton Rage soccer club. During that span, she also led Bishop O'Dowd High School (Calif.) in scoring during her senior year.
On Brathwaite, Chastain commented, "We are incredibly excited Sara will be joining our team this fall."
"Sara is a competitor and we expect she will make an immediate impact in an attacking role for our team," she continued. "She is very fit, athletic and has a relentless work ethic. We can't wait to get her on campus."
DePaul fans will get their first shot to see the revived Blue Demon squad next month. After an exhibition match at Northwestern on August 11, the Blue Demons open up the 2012 regular season with four straight matches at home on Wish Field beginning Friday, August 17 against Towson at 4 p.m.
