CHICAGO – Five teams that competed in the NCAA tournament highlight the 2017 DePaul women’s soccer schedule announced by coach Erin Chastain.

Those challenges begin with an Aug. 18 road match at Northwestern which advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2016.

Then come back-to-back tests against NCAA Second-Round qualifiers Sept. 3 at Texas A&M and Sept. 8 against Pepperdine at Wish Field.

The big showdown of the BIG EAST season occurs on Sept. 28 when the Blue Demons welcome NCAA Final Four adversary Georgetown to Wish Field. The final match against an NCAA tournament team is Oct. 5 versus Marquette at Wish Field.

The most demanding aspect of the schedule is opening the season with seven consecutive games away from Wish Field. That daunting stretch commences with an exhibition match Aug. 12 at Louisville followed by the away game vs. Northwestern.

Next is an Aug. 20 match at Illinois followed by an Aug. 25 match against Akron and Aug. 27 vs. Drexel in the Loyola Chicago Invitational. The traveling concludes with an Aug. 31 game at Purdue and the Sept. 3 showdown at Texas A&M.

The Blue Demons face Pepperdine in their home opener followed by a Sept. 10 match against William & Mary at Wish Field. After a Sept. 17 visit to North Side rival Loyola, Chastain’s side returns home for BIG EAST matches against Seton Hall (Sept. 23) and Georgetown (Sept. 28).

DePaul hits the road Oct. 1 bound for Creighton and returns to Wish Field for the Oct. 5 showdown with rival Marquette. The Blue Demons are at Xavier on Oct. 8 and home against Butler on Oct. 14. Then, it’s back-to-back away games Oct. 19 at Providence and Oct. 22 at Villanova.

The regular season concludes with an Oct. 26 home match against St. John’s.

DePaul is shooting for its sixth consecutive appearance in the BIG EAST Championship and fourth overall appearance in the NCAA tournament.
