DePaul Women's Soccer Announces 2014 Schedule

CHICAGO – Looking to follow up one of the most successful seasons in program history, the DePaul women’s soccer team will confront six NCAA tournament teams on its 2014 schedule.
In addition, the Blue Demons will face two other opponents who advanced to the BIG EAST Conference Championship tournament.
DePaul went 13-6-2 last season and advanced to the NCAA tournament after finishing second in the BIG EAST tournament playing in its first BIG EAST title game.
After an Aug. 14 exhibition match against NCAA tournament team Iowa at Wish Field, the Blue Demons open the regular season with an Aug. 22 home match against Central Michigan.
They begin a three-game road stretch on Aug. 24 with a match at Nebraska, which made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament. Next, they head to Maryland for a match against Towson on Aug. 29 followed by a match at Loyola Maryland two days later.
After returning home for a Sept 3 game versus NCAA second-round qualifier Illinois State, DePaul is back on the road for a Sept. 7 match at NCAA qualifier Milwaukee and Sept. 11 at Green Bay.
Coach Erin Chastain’s team opens a four-game home stand Sept. 14 vs. North Side rival Loyola Chicago. That is followed by home matches against Cincinnati (Sept. 18), the BIG EAST opener against NCAA second-round qualifier Georgetown (Sept. 25) and Providence (Sept. 28).
Next up is the toughest stretch of the 2014 schedule with four of five games on the road.
It begins with an Oct. 2 match at Seton Hall followed by an Oct. 5 showdown at BIG EAST tournament qualifier Villanova. After an Oct. 11 home game against Creighton, the Blue Demons take on BIG EAST tournament team Butler Oct. 16 in Indianapolis and BIG EAST champion and NCAA qualifier Marquette Oct. 19 in Milwaukee.
DePaul concludes the regular season at Wish Field with an Oct. 25 match against Xavier and an Oct. 31 Halloween game against NCAA second-round qualifier St. John’s.
