DePaul Opens Season on Friday at Wish Field
Aug. 16, 2012
CHICAGO – A short preseason for the DePaul women’s soccer team officially concludes Friday afternoon as the Blue Demons welcome visiting Towson to Wish Field for the 4 p.m. season opener.
With one exhibition under their belts—a 1-1 draw with cross-town foe Northwestern—the Blue Demons are set for the 2012 campaign to begin.
In that warmup contest, it was freshman Brianna Ryce, one of a strong group of newcomers, who scored DePaul’s lone goal against the Wildcats. That goal came on a free kick off the boot of veteran junior Rebekah Roller, who makes her return to midfield this season after two years as a defender.
While the starting 11 is yet to be determined, head coach Erin Chastain has a strong pool to select from as the Blue Demons hope to come out with a season-opening victory against the Tigers on Sunday.
Fans can access Gametracker for live statistics and BlueTube for live video during the contest. The Friday contest marks the first of four straight home games for DePaul to open the season. The Blue Demons next play on Sunday, August 19, as they welcome Loyola at 1 p.m.
