Blue Demons Ready to Rebound
Aug. 23, 2012
CHICAGO – After splitting its first two matches of the 2012 campaign, the DePaul women’s soccer team (1-1) looks to get back on top on Friday, August 24 as it welcomes Ohio to Wish Field at 4 p.m. The Blue Demons then return to the field on Sunday, August 26 for a 4 p.m. contest against Valparaiso. Friday’s match marks just the second time that the Blue Demons and Bobcats will face off on the field. The two squads only other meeting came on Aug. 31, 2007 with DePaul coming away with a 2-0 win over Ohio. The Blue Demons and Crusaders are more frequent opponents as the teams have met six times previously with DePaul holding a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series. The Blue Demons have also taken the last two meetings. Last Friday, DePaul hosted Towson and took down the Tigers in a convincing 2-1 win to open the season. The duo of Ashleigh Goddard and Natasa Radosavljevic paired up to notch a goal and an assist each in the game, propelling the Blue Demon offense. Sunday’s match saw the offense falter however, as the Blue Demons were blanked by cross-town Loyola, 1-0, with sophomore goalkeeper Megan Pyrz collecting six saves. The August 24 women’s contest follows the conclusion of the Blue Demons men’s soccer team’s season-opener against UIC. Fans can follow live on GameTracker or watch on BlueTube.
