CHICAGO – Coming off a rain-soaked 1-0 victory over visiting Valparaiso on Sunday, the DePaul women’s soccer team (3-1-0) looks to continue its defensive hot streak this weekend as it heads to Dayton, Ohio, for matchups against Wright State on Friday and Dayton on Sunday.

The Blue Demons have displayed a staunch defense so far this season, having not surrendered a goal since the first half of their 1-0 loss to Loyola on August 19—a span of nearly 250 minutes. These efforts have resulted in recognition from the conference with midfielder Rebekah Roller earning a spot on this week’s league BIG EAST Honor Roll.

Not to be outshone, the DePaul offense has also seen a significant turnaround from last season. Through the Blue Demons’ first four matches in 2012, they have registered six goals. By contrast, DePaul netted just one goal through its first four matches of the 2011 campaign.

DePaul and Wright State have faced off just twice in the history of the program—and not since 1997—with Wright State coming away with wins in both contests. This season, the Raiders have compiled a 2-1-1 record in the early goings. After opening the season with wins against Ohio and Mount Vernon Nazarene, Wright State drew with Denver before suffering a 2-1 loss to Colorado.

Entering this season, DePaul and Dayton have never competed against each another on the field. The Flyers have opened the 2012 season with a successful first four and as a result, have received votes in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire Division I Top 25 poll.

Live statistics for Friday’s matchup at Wright State at 6 p.m. CST can be found here. For Sunday’s match at Dayton—scheduled for noon CST start time—DePaul fans can follow along here.
