Women's Soccer Wins at Green Bay
The DePaul women's soccer team notched their first victory of the season on September 8 with a 3-2 decision at Wisconsin-Green Bay. The win also marked the first victory for DePaul head coach John Wilson. In the match, the Blue Demons tallied a season-high three goals. DePaul scorers included Shana Mills, Tammy Howe and Autumn Laidler. It was the first goal of the season for each player. For the second straight game, the Blue Demons were on the attack as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead before holding off two late goals from the Phoenix. DePaul also had a chance to score a fourth goal to put the game away, but came up empty. In his first victory as a head coach, Wilson continued to be pleased with his team's effort in each match. "Once again we played better. We continue to do that every match, which makes us happy," said Wilson. I told the players to keep focusing on attacking and playing with intensity for 90 minutes. We knew the finishing would come through eventually, and it did tonight. The hard work everyday in training is really starting to pay off."
Up next for DePaul is the Conference USA opener. The Blue Demons will host Cincinnati on September 15 at Wish Field.
