CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri State scored three goals in the second half to break a 1-1 halftime tie and defeated DePaul, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon. Shannon Williams scored her third goal of the season for DePaul.

DePaul (2-3-0) took an early 1-0 advantage as Williams registered her third goal in five matches. Callie Hemming was credited with the assist after setting up Williams for the 20-yarder at 23:00.

The Redhawks knotted the score less than 10 minutes later when Ashley Runion gathered a rebound and put it to the back of the net at 35:40.

Southeast Missouri State (2-1-0) took the lead for good in the 57th minute when Alaina Lacopo scored the first of her two goals. She followed with her second score of the game 20 minutes later before Lauren Lacopo finished the scoring in the 85th minute.

Williams led DePaul with four shots, including three on goal, while Tara Strickland totaled three shots. Goalkeeper Brittni Lally finished the game with six saves while Lindsay Pickering and Rachel Harrington combined for five saves for the Redhawks.

DePaul travels to Evansville next Friday for a non-conference match. Kickoff in at Black Beauty Field in Evansville, Ind., is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Blue Demons return to Wish Field on Sunday, Sept. 16 against Northern Illinois.

Match Notes: Shannon Williams has scored three goals in five matches this season after totaling one goal as a freshman... the series is now tied between the two programs at 1-1… each team has claimed victory on its home field.
