DePaul Drops First Match of the Season at Eastern Illinois, 4-0
Charleston, Ill. - Put together playing on the road for the first time this season and a downpour throughout the match, and it equals the first loss of the season for the Blue Demons. The Blue Demons lost, 4-0, to the Panthers, but three of those goals came late in the match as DePaul was pressing to even the score. With the defeat the Blue Demons drop to 5-1 heading into Conference USA play this weekend.
Eastern Illinois' first goal came at 17:56 on a 15-yarder by Beth Liesen who finished the match with two goals and an assist. The score would stay that way until the 83rd minute on a Teri LaRoche score. The Panthers added two more in the final four minutes of the game for the 4-0 advantage.
DePaul had opportunities as they outshot Eastern Illinois, 11-6, in the first half. Blue Demon goalkeeper Lindsey Deason tallied four saves in the defeat.
The original schedule had the men playing at noon and the women at 2:30. With the recent events in the nation, UAB had to rearrange travel plans and therefore the women's game was moved to an earlier time.
