Women's Soccer Falls at Notre Dame
NOTRE DAME, Ind. The DePaul women’s soccer team opened the BIG EAST schedule with a 4-0 loss at Notre Dame on Friday night. The match was the conference opener for both teams.
Notre Dame (3-3-1, 1-0-0 BIG EAST) scored the first goal of the night in the eighth minute. Kerri Hanks headed in a shot off a cross from the right side by Amanda Cinalli. Hanks’ first goal of the evening found the net at 7:43.
The scored remained at 1-0 until midway into the second half. Notre Dame benefited from a pair of penalty kick opportunities in a seven-minute span to make the score 3-0 in favor of the home team. Hanks scored on the penalty kicks at 61:17 and 66:18.
Notre Dame scored the final goal of the evening in the 70th minute. Ashley Jones converted a scoring chance at 69:51 off assists from Erica Iantorno and Rebecca Mendoza.
DePaul (2-5-1, 0-1-0 BIG EAST) returns to Wish Field on Sunday afternoon for a non-conference match against IPFW. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. The game is the second half of the DePaul soccer doubleheader that starts at 1 p.m. with the men’s team against Connecticut.
