DePaul Moves Up in the Regional Rankings
CHICAGO – Following their first appearance in the Great Lakes regional rankings, the DePaul women’s soccer team improve their slot with a pair of wins over Memphis and UAB this weekend.
In the Soccer Buzz weekly rankings, the club moved up to No. 8 following last week No. 9 ranking in the Great Lakes region. The No. 9 spot marked the first ranking for the women’s soccer program in its eight-year history.
This week, the Blue Demons also moved into the No. 10 spot on the NSCAA/adidas regional rankings. It is their first appearance in the poll conducted by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Conference USA member UAB is tied for 10th in the Southeast region.
Among the Great Lakes programs ranked in both polls, only DePaul and top-ranked Notre Dame have compiled eight wins this season. The Fighting Irish at 8-0-1 are also ranked second in the country.
DePaul is off to the best start in the program’s eight-year history with at 8-2-0 overall. After recording a pair of overtime wins on the road at Memphis and UAB last weekend, the team stands all alone in first place with a 4-0-0 record in Conference USA.
This weekend the Blue Demons step out of league action with a pair of games in Colorado. DePaul takes on Air Force Friday before playing at Colorado College on Sunday.
