Sitch Named C-USA Player of the Week for Third Time
CHICAGO - For the second week in a row and the third time in the last four weeks, Julianne Sitch has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week. The sophomore led the Blue Demons to a first place with a pair of C-USA wins this weekend at Memphis and UAB while making an early push for the league’s Player of the Year honor.
On Sunday, it was Sitch’s turn to score the ‘golden goal’ to give the Blue Demons their eighth win in the last nine matches. With less than a minute left in the second overtime period, Sitch broke through the UAB defense knocked in the game-winner with just 35 seconds left on the clock.
Through 10 matches, Sitch leads C-USA with 20 points on nine goals and a pair of assists. Five of her nine scores this season have been game-winners. Twice this season Sitch has scored two goals in a match at UW-Green Bay and against Toledo. She needs just one more point to tie her own single-season scoring record at DePaul that she set last year.
Over 29 career games, Sitch is atop most of the career records in DePaul soccer history. Her 41 points are a career scoring record as is her 17 career goals. The seven career assists are tied for second all-time. The Oswego, Ill., native was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week earlier this season on two occasions and has been named to Soccer Buzz National Elite Team of the Week twice.
The Blue Demons play a pair of road matches this weekend at Air Force and Colorado College. DePaul returns to Conference USA play the following weekend with games at Charlotte and East Carolina.
