Weekly Notes
Live Stats for Sunday's match at Charlotte

CHICAGO - The DePaul women’s soccer team plays the last of four straight Conference USA matches on the road this weekend at East Carolina and Charlotte.  The Blue Demons opened the trip with losses at Memphis and Saint Louis last weekend to snap a three-match winning streak.  DePaul takes on the Pirates at 4 p.m. EST on Friday and plays the 49ers at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday.  The team is 5-5-0 and 1-2-0 in league play while East Carolina enters the weekend at 2-6-1 and 0-1-0 in C-USA action.  Charlotte is 1-8-0 overall and 1-0-0 in league games.

Looking at the Blue Demons:  2004 marks the ninth season of women’s soccer at DePaul University... Julianne Sitch and Lea Hill lead the club with 17 and 15 points, respectively...  Jennifer Dyer, Lauren Spacht and Erin Walter are tied for third on the club with 10 points each... DePaul has never had three players total at least 15 points in a season... Hill has a team-high seven goals with an assist while Walter leads the club with six assists to go with two goals... in two-plus seasons, Sitch has recorded a program-best 69 points, 26 goals and 17 assists... DePaul’s six goals and nine assists against Liberty on Sept. 5 are both school records... the club tied the scoring record in the 6-1 win against Northern Iowa on Sept. 17... head coach John Wilson is in his fifth season in Lincoln Park.

Scoring in Bunches: DePaul’s 25 goals through 10 games are on pace to break the program’s single-season record.  A year ago, the club set the top mark with 33 goals.  Twice this season, the Blue Demons have scored a school-record six goals in a match.  The nine goals in back-to-back matches against Northern Iowa and Marquette are the most in a two-game stretch.  DePaul’s 12 goals in the last three games tie a record set in 2002 with 12 goals against IPFW, Indiana State and Drury.  The Blue Demons are spreading the wealth as eight different players have scored at least one goal.

Nationally Ranked: With the flurry of goals early in the season, the team is ranked among the nation’s highest-scoring offenses.  Through games of Sept. 26, DePaul is 33rd with 2.6 goals per game.  Prairie View leads the country with 6.0 goals per contest.

Individually, Erin Walter is ranked 30th with 0.6 assists per game.  She leads the club with six assists in 10 games.  Megan Chismark of Chattanooga leads the nation with 1.29 assists per contest.

Sitch on Hermann Trophy Watch List: DePaul junior and preseason Conference USA Player of the Year Julianne Sitch is one of 25 student-athletes named to the preseason Hermann Trophy watch list.  The Hermann Trophy is annually awarded to the top men’s and women’s collegiate players.  The 25 players on the preseason list are considered to be among the top players entering the 2004 college season and are the ones to watch this fall.  A list of 15 semifinalists will be announced in November, with three finalists selected in early December.  The winner will be announced at a dinner at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo., on Jan. 8, 2005.

Last Weekend: DePaul lost back-to-back games for the second time this season last weekend.  On Friday, they lost at Memphis, 2-1, before falling at Saint Louis, 3-0.  The blanking against the Billikens was the first time the Blue Demons had been shut out in 2004.

Looking at East Carolina: The Pirates enter the weekend at 2-6-1 overall and 0-1-0 in C-USA play... they are winless in their last six matches with a 0-5-1 record during that span... they dropped their lone C-USA match to Charlotte, 2-0, on Sept. 24... Meghan McCallion leads the team with five points on two goals and an assist... head coach Rob Donnenwirth is in his sixth season as head coach.  The series: East Carolina leads the series, 1-0-2... a year ago in Greenville, the two teams played to a 1-1 tie.

Scouting Charlotte: Sunday’s opponent, Charlotte, enters the weekend at 1-8-0 overall and 1-0-0 in C-USA action... they host Marquette on Friday night... the 49ers knocked off East Carolina, 2-0, in the C-USA opener... Lindsey Beam leads the team with seven points on two goals and three assists... head coach Neil Roberts is in his sixth season.  The Series: The 49ers lead the all-time series, 7-0-1... last season saw Charlotte post a 3-1 at Transamerica Field.
