Women's Soccer Loses To Purdue, 2-0

CHICAGO – With the wind chill hovering in the lower 40’s the Blue Demons fell to the visiting Purdue Boilermakers, 2-0, on Friday afternoon.  A pair of early second half scores by Purdue’s Annette Kent dropped DePaul to 5-5-1 on the season.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie in the first 45 minutes despite DePaul being outshot, 9-1.  Freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Deason foiled a Boilermaker penalty kick with just 17 seconds left in the half.

Kent scored the eventual game-winner off her own rebound just 18 seconds into the second half.  After Deason blocked Kent’s first attempt, she gathered the rebound and put it past the DePaul keeper.  Her second score came at 52:12 as she headed in a cross from a corner kick.

In the match, Deason tallied five saves while Lauren Geiger totaled four stops in just over 27 minutes in goal for DePaul.

Up next for the Blue Demons is Loyola on Monday afternoon.  The match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. at Wish Field.  DePaul back into Conference USA play next weekend when they host East Carolina and Charlotte.
