Blue Demons Tie Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. — The DePaul women’s soccer team tied Seton Hall, 2-2, on a rainy Friday afternoon at Owen T. Carroll field. The tie improves the Blue Demons to 2-6-4 and 0-3-3 in the BIG EAST while Seton Hall record goes to 6-4-3 and 2-3-1 in the BIG EAST. Seniors Amy Witt and Margo Stackmaster were each credited with goals for the Blue Demons.

Seton Hall struck first, scoring in the opening minutes match. Katie Herr fired a shot from 18 yards out that snuck through the upper right corner to give the Pirates a 1-0 advantage.

 

The Blue Demons responded with a goal of their own six minutes later. Amy Witt's header sailed past Pirate goalie, Amanda Becker to tie the game. Jen Lee and Dominque Locascio were credited with the assist.


Ten minutes into the second half, Seton Hall was awarded a penalty kick and converted it to take a 2-1 lead.  DePaul again responded as Stackmaster found the net from eight feet out to tie the game

 

Each team took two shots in the overtime period but neither was able to score, leaving the game knotted a two.  DePaul goal keeper Cara Larocca and Seton Hall's  Becker were each credited with two saves.  The Pirates outshot DePaul, 12-11, and held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.


DePaul takes on Rutgers on Sunday afternoon at Noon.
