DePaul and Seton Hall Play to 1-1 Tie
Box Score CHICAGO – The DePaul women’s soccer team played Seton Hall to a 1-1 tie on Sunday afternoon at Wish Field. Both teams were active as the combined for 43 shots, but only two of the attempts found the net. Following a scoreless first half, Lea Hill got the Blue Demons on the board in the 67th minute. She took a pass from Dominique Locascio behind the Seton Hall defense and tapped in a shot over Pirate goalkeeper Amanda Becker at 66:32. It was Hill’s second goal of the season. Just over 10 minutes later, Seton Hall (6-6-2, 2-3-2 BIG EAST) knotted the match on Katherine DeTata’s second goal of the season. Ashley Reinecke dribbled the ball from midfield to the top of the box where she crossed it to DeTata. DeTata knocked in the one-timer from eight yards at the far post to tie the match at 77:19. The Pirates nearly took the lead two minutes later as a shot deflected off DePaul keeper Cara LaRocca, but Jen Lee was at the goalline to send the ball up the field. DePaul (3-10-1, 0-6-1 BIG EAST) took 22 shots in the match while Seton Hall finished the game with 21 attempts. LaRocca finished the afternoon with seven saves and Becker was credited with eight stops. The Blue Demons finish the regular season with four consecutive road matches. The trip starts at Providence on Friday followed by a Sunday afternoon game at Connecticut. Match Notes: The goal by Lea Hill moved her into third all-time at DePaul with 38 points… Cara LaRocca’s 109 saves are the most by a DePaul goalie since Lindsey Deason’s 124 saves in 2003… the goal ended a streak of four straight games without a goal… the Blue Demons are 0-0-2 in overtime matches this season… DePaul now leads the all-time series, 1-0-1.
