Blue Demons Drop Pair Of Weekend Matches



The DePaul women's soccer team started the season-ending road trip with a pair of losses at Tulane and Southern Mississippi over the weekend. On Friday, the Blue Demons traveled to New Orleans and lost, 2-0, before losing at Southern Miss by the score of 4-0.

In Friday's loss at Tulane, the Blue Demons were outshot by the Green Wave, 18-4. Tulane scored in the 28th minute when Megan Stack fought off a DePaul defender and scored the match's first goal. The Green Wave added a second goal at 87:29 for the 2-0 final. DePaul goalkeeper Marissa Czapka registered seven goals while facing 18 Tulane shots.

On Sunday, DePaul traveled to Hattiesburg and failed to find the net once again in the 4-0 loss. The Lady Eagles used two goals in each half and outshot the Blue Demons, 17-8. The scoring started early when Tricia Wiles scored in the fourth minute. She was followed by Katie Adams at 9:37 and Stacey Hall scored the match's last two goals at 50:23 and 55:32.

With the two defeats, the Blue Demons' record dropped to 3-13 overall and 2-8 in the league. The final regular-season match of the year will be at Marquette on October 27. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. in Milwaukee.
