Women's Soccer Loses Finale, 2-0



CHICAGO - In their final match of the season, the DePaul women’s soccer team lost, 2-0, to Marquette on Saturday afternoon at Wish Field.  The Blue Demons end the season with a 6-12-1 record.  The six wins is the second-highest total in the program’s six-year history.

The Golden Eagles scored the game’s first goal in the 7th minute as Jill Vendetti took a deflection off a DePaul defender and shot it from 25 yards away into the upper right corner of the Blue Demon goal.

Marquette’s second score came two minutes into the second half as Ashley Spakowitz knocked the ball past DePaul keeper Lauren Geiger off a corner kick from Kristen Jensen.

In the match, the Blue Demons were outshot, 17-2, while Marquette totaled nine corner kicks.

In addition to the six wins being the second-highest total in the program’s history, DePaul set a school mark with a season-opening five-match winning streak.
