Lindsey Deason Picks Up a Pair of National Honors
Soccer Buzz Team of the Week CHICAGO – Following her standout performance in the Conference USA Tournament, junior goalkeeper Lindsey Deason was named to a pair of National Team’s of the Week. Soccer Buzz named her to the National Elite Team of the Week while Soccer America selected Deason to their Team of the Week. It is the first time this season that the keeper has earned the weekly honors. In three C-USA Tournament matches, the junior made 28 saves including a career-high 13 in the 2-0 shutout of Saint Louis in the semifinals. Following six saves in the championship match, Deason came up huge in the shootout with a pair of stops to send DePaul to their first NCAA Tournament appearance. For her efforts, she was named the C-USA Tournament’s defensive MVP. Through 22 matches, Deason has played every minute in goal. She has allowed just 18 goals in over 2,000 minutes of play and set a new program record with her seventh shutout of the season against Saint Louis in the league tournament. Her 117 saves are a career best and the goals against average of 0.78 is a single-season school record. Deason and the Blue Demons open NCAA Tournament play on Friday against the Purdue Boilermakers. Kickoff in Champaign, Ill. is set for 4 p.m. The winner moves on to the second round to play the winner of the Illinois-Western Michigan match on Sunday at 2 p.m.
