High School: The Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune Player of the Year in 2010 set a state record going 40-0 from the circle while leading the Coalers to the Class 2A championship... the consensus All-Stater had a 0.30 earned-run average with 480 strikeouts---the fourth-highest mark in state history... the left-hander recorded four perfect games and 11 no-hitters... she finished with a career record of 83-4 in three seasons, 1,036 strikeouts, 19 home runs and had a 72-game hitting streak during her career... in 2009, she led Coal City to third-place in Class 2A, going 31-3 with a 0.32 ERA... in basketball, Verdun averaged 19.1 points and 10.5 rebounds as a senior... she led the Coalers to 26 wins (tying a school record) and to their first regional title since 1997...
