Inclement Weather Cancels DePaul's Game at Illinois-Chicago
April 10, 2013
CHICAGO - DePaul will have to wait until next week to regain its winning touch as Wednesday's nonconference game at Illinois-Chicago was canceled because of inclement weather.
The Blue Demons had their seven-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday in a 5-4 loss to Illinois State at Cacciatore Stadium.
They will have a chance to tighten things up at practices during their BIG EAST Conference bye week.
DePaul (23-14, 10-1 in the BIG EAST) is tied for first place in the conference with USF. In conference play, the Blue Demons entered the week leading the league in home runs, hits, RBIs, runs, total bases, doubles, walks and slugging percentage.
Mary Connolly was first in RBIs, hits, total bases and tied for second in home runs. Samantha Dodd was tied for first in runs and second in hits while Verdun led in walks. In the circle, Verdun led the BIG EAST in strikeouts and innings pitched and was second in conference wins.
DePaul returns to action April 17 with a nonconference showdown against Illinois in Champaign.
