CHICAGO - The DePaul softball team split its Saturday doubleheader with St. John's, picking up a 3-1 victory in game two of the afternoon twin bill.

DePaul (26-14, 8-3 BE) opened the contest with a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as designated player Morgan Greenwood rocketed a solo shot to dead center on the first pitch of the inning.

An inning later, catcher Jessica Cothern pushed DePaul's advantage to 3-0 with a two-run home run, lifting her eighth home run of the season over the left-center field fence.

While St. John's rallied to cut the lead to 3-1 on a solo home run by Gretchen Bowie in the top of the seventh, Blue Demon freshman Pat Moore worked out of a bases-loaded jam to close out the complete-game victory. Moore (10-5) struck out five batters, surrendering just one run on five hits.

The rubber game between DePaul and St. John's is set for Sunday at 11 a.m.   Prior to the contest, the Blue Demons will recognize the men's golf team and its three seniors of the 2018 class.
