Missy Zoch named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Feb. 12, 2018

CHICAGO – The BIG EAST released its softball weekly honors on Monday, tabbing DePaul's sophomore Missy Zoch as the conference’s Pitcher of the Week.

Over the weekend, Zoch recorded what was one of the most successful pitching performances in DePaul’s history.  The right-hander posted a 4-0 record in four appearances including three complete-game shutouts and a no-hitter against Northern Colorado on Feb. 11.

The Blue Demons went a perfect 5-0 at the Total Control Sports Invitational in Rosemont, Ill.  During the invitational, Zoch carried a 0.30 ERA, striking out 23 batters in 23.2 innings of work.  She allowed one run and nine hits while walking just one batter.

Monday’s recognition is the third time in Zoch’s career she has been named the conference’s Pitcher of the Week (March 6 & April 17, 2017).

Sophomore Angela Scalzitti also received Weekly Honor Roll recognition by the BIG EAST.  In five games, the Elmhurst native lead the Blue Demons with a .471 batting average, collecting eight hits in 17 plate appearances.  Against Eastern Kentucky, Scalzitti went 4-for-4, tallying four singles.  The centerfielder also scored seven of DePaul’s 23 runs at the Total Control Sports Invitational.
