Feb. 19, 2018

CHICAGO – The BIG EAST released its weekly honors for softball on Monday, tabbing DePaul's junior Morgan Greenwood as the conference’s Player of the Week.

Over the weekend, Greenwood lead the Blue Demons with eight hits, including three doubles, to post a .467 batting average.  She drove in five of DePaul’s 10 runs and tallied 10 total bases while slugging .667.  Against Northern Illinois, Greenwood knocked in all four of DePaul’s runs in its 4-2 win.  In the third inning, she gave DePaul the 2-0 lead with a two-run double while driving in the go-ahead and eventual game-winning runs in the seventh inning to give DePaul the win.

To date, Greenwood carries a team-high .444 batting average.  The Shorewood, Ill., native has driven in a DePaul-best 10 runs on 12 hits, including four doubles.  In the field, Greenwood is responsible for 58 putouts, yielding just one error for a .983 fielding percentage.

Freshman Pat Moore also received Weekly Honor Roll recognition by the BIG EAST.  The left-hander went 2-1 during the Cougar Classic, improving to a 3-1 record on the year.  Moore struck out a single-game, career-high 12 batters against Iona in just five innings of work.  She combined with teammate Missy Zoch for the 2-0 shutout victory where only one hit was allowed.  The Medford, Ore., native picked up her second win of the Classic against Presbyterian where she pitched a two-hit shutout en route to a 1-0 victory.  That win gave DePaul head softball coach Eugene Lenti his 1,300th career victory.  Overall, Moore carries a 1.79. ERA and leads DePaul with 41 strikeouts in 27.1 innings of work.
