Softball Falls to Central Michigan

The DePaul softball team (1-5) dropped its opening game of the NFCA Classic to Central Michigan (1-0) this afternoon 4-3. DePaul freshman Tracie Adix was the losing pitcher.


In the top of the third inning, the Blue Demons bats came alive; when junior Dana Kenney led off with a single to left field.  Kenney advanced to second and third on fielders choices before senior Sarah Martz pounded a RBI double into left field, putting the Blue Demons up 1-0. 


Central Michigan would not score until the fifth inning when Brittany Decker sailed a three run homer over the fence which put the Chippewas up 3-1 heading into the top of the sixth. 


DePaul senior Christina Douglas reached on a base hit with a two outs.  Junior Saskia Roberson planted her first homerun of the season over the right field wall.  Roberson’s homerun tied the game at three.


In the bottom of the sixth, Central Michigan’s first batter singled to right, which sent DePaul freshman, Kate Sheaks to the mound to replace Adix.  Sheaks threw a wild pitch which allowing the game winning run to cross the plate.


The Blue Demons return to action this afternoon against Massachusetts, the first pitch is scheduled for 1:30 CST.  The game can be monitored through Gametracker.
