Leyva and Moore tabbed with BIG EAST Player, Pitcher of the Week honors

CHICAGO - The BIG EAST released its weekly honors for softball on Monday, tabbing DePaul's Megan Leyva as its Player of the Week while teammate Pat Moore was named the conference's Pitcher of the Week.

At the Rebel Classic in the Las Vegas, Nev., Leyva carried the Blue Demons to a 2-2 record, seeing DePaul improve to 16-7 in 2018.  The senior outfielder posted a team-best .467 batting average in four games, driving in a team-best seven runs on seven hits, including two doubles and two home runs.  Leyva slugged for 1.000 and now carries a .311 batting average while leading the Blue Demons with four home runs, 18 RBIs, and a .590 slugging percentage.

Moore compiled a 1-0 record in three appearances at the Rebel Classic. The left-hander tallied nine strikeouts in eight innings of work. She combined with senior Kennedy Garcia for a 6-0 shutout victory against Portland State where she allowed just one hit in four innings. Moore leads DePaul with a team-high 75 strikeouts on the season, carrying a 1.76 ERA and 6-2 record in 13 appearances.
