Softball Tops Kansas 4-3

Carbondale, Ill.-  The DePaul Blue Demons softball squad topped the Kansas Jayhawks 4-3 in its opening game of the Saluki Round Robin Classic on Saturday afternoon.  The win improves the Blue Demons to 3-8 on the season, the Jayhawks fall to 13-7.


Senior Sarah Martz threw the game for the Blue Demons and improved to 3-4 on year.  Junior All-American Saskia Roberson belted a two-run double in the bottom of the first to give the Blue Demons the lead. 


Freshman Linda Secka smashed a two-run homerun in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win for the Blue Demons.


DePaul will be back in action later this evening, against in-state rival Illinois State.  The first pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 6:00 p.m. at the Charlotte West Stadium.
