Blue Demons Sweep Cougars 3-0
HOUSTON - DePaul softball beat Houston 3-0 on Sunday in game three of their conference series. With the help of two home runs, the No. 9 Blue Demons (21-4) clinched the win and improved their Conference USA record to 8-1.
In the first inning, the Demons capitalized on an error by the Cougars to score their first run.
Liz Bouck singled on a bunt and advanced on Roberson's walk. When Sarah Douglas reached on an error by Houston's second baseman, Bouck took advantage of the opportunity and crossed home plate.
In the top of the second inning, the team increased the lead to 2-0 when Christina Douglas homered. It marked her third of the season.
Roberson matched Douglas' feat in the fifth inning when she hit her fourth home run of the season, making the score 3-0.
The Cougars nearly made a comback in the sixth inning when a runner who walked advanced in to scoring position. But the inning ended short for Houston when Bouck fielded a grounder for the third out.
Lindsay Chouinard threw a two-hitter and allowed no runs. She picks up her 12th win of the season.
The Blue Demons play next at Northern Illinois on Thursday when they face the Huskies in a double-header.
